Shared Pregnancy Care

Dr Marina is delighted to provide Shared Maternity Care, a collaborative approach to pregnancy care shared between the hospital and your local GP. Shared care delivers the ideal combination of hospital expertise and the personalised, continuous support of your GP.

With over 16 years of experience in shared care, Dr Marina is passionate about supporting families on their pregnancy journey. She is an accredited provider with The Royal Women’s Hospital and the Mercy Hospital for Women (Heidelberg).

Shared Maternity Care is suitable for low-risk pregnancies. Those with specific medical or obstetric conditions may require extra hospital visits or specialist support or may not be eligible for shared care.

If your previous pregnancy was complicated or you have had a Caesarean section, you may still be eligible for Shared Maternity Care in subsequent pregnancies.

Should any complications arise during your pregnancy, your care may transition to a hospital-based model to ensure you always receive the most appropriate attention from skilled clinicians. Additional support from other health professionals—such as physiotherapists or dietitians—can be arranged by Dr Marina if needed.

If at any point you feel that Shared Maternity Care isn’t the right fit, you are free to switch to hospital-based care, or vice versa, at any time.

Shared Maternity Care with Dr Marina includes:

  • Regular check-ups: Antenatal appointments are planned at least monthly for the first 6 months, fortnightly for the following 2 months and then weekly for the last month of pregnancy. Non-pregnancy related health concerns can also be addressed during your consultations. Letters and medical certificates for work can be provided as needed.
  • Coordinated hospital care: Seamless integration with your chosen hospital—either The Royal Women’s Hospital or Mercy Hospital for Women (Heidelberg). You’ll have about 3-4 consultations at your preferred hospital and will deliver your baby there.
  • Structured review plan: You’ll receive a shared maternity care folder at registration to bring to all appointments. This folder helps doctors and midwives communicate about your care, so it’s important to bring it to every community and hospital visit, including when you come in to have your baby.
  • Convenience and flexibility: Compassionate, responsive care every step of the way, designed to fit around your needs. Appointments will be available at a short notice.
  • Six-week postnatal check: A comprehensive postnatal appointment for both you and your baby.
  • Vaccinations will be provided during your pregnancy and later for your baby.

Our goal is to make your care seamless, safe, and truly centred around you. If you’re planning a pregnancy or currently expecting, book an appointment with Dr Marina to discuss whether Shared Maternity Care is right for you.

Please book a longer appointment if you would like to discuss your pregnancy care.
